Artikel: Conn Transitional 6M
Type : Transitional 6M
Serial : M253166
Year : mid 1932
General description : This Conn Transitional 6M type has the B and Bb keys on LH side and the 6M-style pinky plateau. These horns are absolute killers, lots of power and very free blowing.
This one was built mid-1932 and is one of the first Transitional alto´s with the complete 6M-style keywork layout, but without the Ladyface engraving. For a very short period these horns did not have an engraving on the bell: only a few batches between early 1932 and mid-1932 had the Conn logo on the bell only. The original double-socket neck (with old-style microtuner) is the STD-D type, has a fully functional microtuner and is in excellent condition. It has the Pad D-July 8-1919-No1308903 identification. I´m pretty sure this is the first lacquer and the horn left the factory as bare brass version. This baby is in fantastic condition and looks absolutely gorgeous, as the lacquer is in almost perfect condition. Some other facts: this alto has no Eb vent and no low B/Bb keyguard, typical for this period. It has the original swivel thumb rest, all original amber rollers and all original locking screws.
Condition : The horn was overhauled in 2013 by it´s previous owner, using original Conn Resopads. An additional full maintenance check was performed in December 2023. The pads are all in fine condition. This alto is in pristine condition: no damage, dents, repairs and hardly any scratches or lacquer wear to be found! Have a good look at the pictures! It´s almost impossible to find one of these horns in this condition!
This alto comes in an excellent original black Conn case, with logo inside and outside. The case is in very nice condition, but the locking springs are gone. The inside is in great condition and has no musty smell.
