Tenor Conn Transitional 10M Ladyface (1935)
A very late tenor Transitional 10M Ladyface has been added to the collection under TS61. This specimen is undoubtedly from the very last batch of Transitional tenor saxophones, from early 1935. The sax already has the 10M-style Ladyface engraving on the cup and the complete 10M keywork, but not yet the 10M stamp near the serial number. This is the perfect example of the continuous improvements to the saxophones during this time, as well as the use of run-out models in production. Compare this sax with TS60: a Conn 10M Ladyface with serial number M263xxx. This was built only a few months earlier but already bears the 10M stamp and is thus a ‘real’ 10M Ladyface (but with a different keyguard for lower B/Bb). This Transitional also has this different keyguard, with a small improvement/adjustment. The keyguard for the Eb vent key is missing on this model.
The sax was extensively tested by a professional player on 22.03.2025. Despite the very old pads, the sax still plays fine and has great sound and potential. An overhaul at short notice is absolutely necessary: then you will have a professional sax with a unique sound.
